Summer Updates
Well, it’s almost mid-August and I’ve taken a longer break than intended. It’s been a busy summer with a lot of family time and life changes for me and my family. It required me to be more present and so I took a summer sabbatical. Here are some updates on what I’ve been up to this summer.
Summer Vacation
In June, I had the opportunity to go to Japan! We visited Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka and Akihabara and while it was a pretty exhausting trip (look, I’m from the suburbs, so walking EVERYWHERE - along with public transportation - my poor feet were pretty mad at me), but it was the most amazing trip!

There were so many beautiful sights to see, delicious food to eat and a lot of beautiful Japanese fabric and stationery patterns to see as well (we shopped A LOT). I had heard that Japan is so clean and safe and it really was such a lovely place! Every train we rode had beautiful, velvety, comfortable cushions - I had never seen such clean, well taken care of public transportation. Everyone was so polite and respectful. It was really cool.

After such a big trip, we’ve intentionally had a slower summer filled with quality time with family and taking advantage of hot summer temps to enjoy a lot of pool time!
Pattern Updates
August started another pattern challenge on Instagram (hosted by Melanie Johnsson). I have been participating this month (every prompt so far!) and would love it if you followed a long. Pattern challenges are super fun and I love how fast-paced they are (for me anyway since I’m not great about planning for them a month in advance). It’s a super fun challenge and one of the best parts is seeing how so many artists in the community interpret and execute the prompt!
I love coming up with so many patterns at a time because many times these prompts will lead me to some great collection ideas to get out. Follow along with me @cloudeight on Instagram!
Over the next couple of months, I will be working on getting holiday collections out so stay tuned for that too!
Much love and thanks for reading. I hope you’ve had a great summer too!
