June was a whirlwind for me!
As I mentioned in my last article, I participated in two design challenges in June! I was able to create 9 out of the 10 pattern prompts from The Pattern Challenge By Mel on Instagram (hosted by Melanie Johnsson - please go check out her colorful patterns) and I really appreciated that there were only 10 prompts this time (sometimes the challenge asks for a prompt for each day of the month).
I shared the first four of my patterns in my last newsletter so of course I need to share the rest! Here are my patterns for Cake Party, Flower Power, Play Time, Rockpools and Stargazer.
I’m pretty happy with these patterns! The only thing I would do differently is really stick to a very specific color palette for all of them. I *kind of* did but as you can see with a few of the designs, they did not all match each other and even though it doesn’t really matter in the long run, I don’t love my Instagram feed aesthetics now. 😅
I’m looking forward to fleshing some of these patterns more to create entire collections.
Animations
I also participated the Summer in Motion 2024 animation challenge on Instagram in June. This challenge involved learning how to make animations with Adobe Express. I have been wanting to learn how to do animations for some time so this was perfect for me!
I was able to take my own illustrations and animate them to make some fun graphics. I think I will just share them one at a time for a few newsletters, so that things don’t get too chaotic here.
Here is my animation for “Summer Splash.” I took some pool floats I had illustrated last summer and made a floating pool animation. I could watch those floats bob around all day!
Thank you to all of you who followed along and supported me while I shared my patterns and animations in June! It truly makes it so much more fun when I feel you guys are excited for the next prompt.
Please do share if you would like to see any of these patterns made into a collection!
If you are an art director and if you think one of these designs might work for one of your projects, please message me!

They are so sweet, well done.
